Being that we are the first generation to have an African American president, we find it very important to understand the journey that our country has been through to get to this day. Martin Luther King Jr. played a very important role in granting African Americans the rights they have today, and without him, there’s a possibility we would not have an African American president today. His “I Have A Dream Speech” was a catalyst for many more civil rights movements.
Our method of research for this presentation was to divide and conquer. We each designated one another a situation that resulted from the speech as a turning point and thoroughly researched those topics. We found inspiration from the quotes that Martin Luther King Jr. used in his speech. We researched quotes, events, and primary resources to put into our presentation. Using the library as a resource, we found many books about Martin Luther King Jr. and the effect he had on our nation.
